100 Chairs in 100 Days

As Mies said,

“A chair is a very difficult object. A skyscraper is almost easier. That is why Chippendale is famous.”


Martino Gamper tasked himself with the seemingly impossible feat of designing 100 chairs in 100 days, and yet he managed to come out on top. You might think that Gamper would have found himself repeating designs, but he managed to create mainly unique forms or interpretations for all 100 chairs. While some are absolutely lovely... others are probably not worth much more than the materials cost to make them (with much of the material donated). Still, you have to be impressed with Martino's ability to continuously produce and be creative day after day...
